MISSIONARY SHOT
Missionary John Leonard is in critical condition after he was shot outside a Brazil church he founded. Two men approached Leonard following a service and shot him at close range. An ordained Baptist minister, Leonard has worked in the country with Baptist Mid-Missions for about 20 years. He may be paralyzed if he survives. After spending most of a week in a remote Brazilian hospital, he was brought back to Des Moines, Iowa.
